NIHR Delegation Meets the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations Office in Geneva
On the sidelines of the Universal Periodic Review of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Geneva, a delegation of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), chaired by Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, has met with Ambassador D. Abdul-Karim Bucheeri, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations Office in Geneva, in the presence of Mrs. Rawdha Al-Aradi, Head of the NIHR Committee on Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up, and Chancellor Yasser Ghanim Shaheen, NIHR Secretary-General.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed frameworks for cooperation and support provided by the Kingdom to enable the NIHR to carry out the role entrusted to it under its Establishment Law. Al-Derazi praised the Universal Periodic Review mechanism, which began in 2008 with the review of the Kingdom of Bahrain as the first country to be reviewed, and the subsequent reviews ending with the 4th phase that took place on Monday the 8th of November. He added that the NIHR followed-up on previous recommendations by issuing its parallel reports, and will follow-up on the recommendations that will be officially approved by the end of this year, and that it will work with all partners, whether in official or private bodies, to ensure their implementation and show the human rights aspect of the Kingdom of Bahrain in all fields.
